The School uses a managed print system based around Papercut software and Konica Minolta Multi-Function Devices, which can print, copy and scan. The basic concept is that you send a print once to a queue, and can then collect your print at any one of the MFDs by simply tapping your student or staff card. This is called Follow Me Printing.

To print you first have to register your ID card with one of the Konica Minolta MFDs. Hover your card by the card reader, which is generally marked with a label that states "Place Card Here". If you haven't already registered, this will prompt the printer to ask "Do you want to register the card with your account?", select Yes.

Next, enter your username and password. As a student, you should have received the NFTS IT Guide from your course coordinator when you joined the School. That explains many things about the School's systems, particularly the username/password format. This is generally firstname.secondname for the username and firstnamecoursesuffix as the initial password. If your name was Billy Jones on the editing course your username would be billy.jones and your password would be billyedit.

Once you have entered your username and password select Set, then OK to complete the task.

Your card is now registered. You can only print over wifi if you are connected to the NFTS-LAN wifi network. Ensure you are connected to that network and not NFTS-Internet. The password for NFTS-LAN is dcef687923, all lowercase.

Windows Setup

Click this link to download and run the Mobility Print Installer. Run the installer, select English, and accept the license.

You'll be prompted to select the printers you want to use. Select Papercut Follow Me, you will then be asked to enter your username and password. As above, this is your School username and password that you will have used to register your Student ID card at one of the Konica Minolta MFDs.

Select Next and Finish.

When it's time to print, choose the Papercut Follow Me printer and print as you normally do. All the printers have A4 and A3 paper, many have A5 for printing scripts. The default settings are to print double-sided and greyscale, these settings can be changed in the Print setup box before you send the job to the print queue.

Finally, walk up to any printer, tap your card to sign in then select Print Release to release your print jobs. Then press Access or the Logout button to sign out.

There is a time limit of four hours, after that print jobs will be deleted and you will have to send them again.
